چکیده
• Ferrite-Rich Portland cement produces denser microstructure at an early age compared with ordinary cement. Fe-siliceous hydrogarnet is the main Fe-containing phase in hydrated Fe(III) ions exist as Fe(OH) 4 ? high-pH pore solution. C-S-H adsorbs via surface complexation reaction and around 2 wt% of Fe incorporated [C-(F)-S-H] produced The hydration process ferrite-rich (FC) its structure have been investigated by experimental thermodynamic modelling techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD)/Rietveld analysis, thermogravimetry (TG), mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) were performed to study process, volume-pore size distributions, uptake calcium-silicate-hydrate (C-S-H). Similar phases found both FC (OPC). degree was higher stage that OPC; however, OPC exceeded after 14 days because high amount C S promoted late hydration. XRD-TG results revealed relatively similar OPC. model confirmed formation a FC. Moreover, predictions agreed well results, demonstrating accuracy proposed for

Hydration water and microstructure in calcium silicate and aluminate hydrates
Understanding the state of the hydration water and the microstructure development in a cement paste is likely to be the key for the improvement of its ultimate strength and durability. In order to distinguish and characterize the reacted and unreacted water, the single-particle dynamics of water molecules in hydrated calcium silicates (C3S, C2S) and aluminates (C3A, C4AF) were studied by quasi-...

Calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) is the major volume phase in the matrix of Portland cement concrete. Total x-ray scattering measurements with synchrotron x rays on synthetic CSH(I) shows nanocrystalline ordering with a particle diameter of 3.5(5) nm, similar to a size-broadened 1.1 nm tobermorite crystal structure. The CSH component in hydrated tricalcium silicate is found to be similar to CSH(I...

Water within pores of cementitious materials plays a crucial role in the damage processes of cement pastes, particularly in the binding material comprising calcium-silicate-hydrates (C-S-H). Here, we employed Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations to investigate the properties of water confined at ambient temperature within and between C-S-H nanoparticles or "grains" as a function of the relat...

Strength and other mechanical properties of cement and concrete rely upon the formation of calcium-silicate-hydrates (C-S-H) during cement hydration. Controlling structure and properties of the C-S-H phase is a challenge, due to the complexity of this hydration product and of the mechanisms that drive its precipitation from the ionic solution upon dissolution of cement grains in water. Departin...
